High-oleic sunflower oil is the grade professional kitchens and food processors reach for when ordinary sunflower oil does not last long enough in the fryer. Saha Oil grows high-oleic sunflower on its own member farms in Ukraine and presses and refines it in its own plant, so the oleic content is a property of the seed we chose to sow, not something bought in.
What “High-Oleic” Actually Means
Sunflower oil is mostly two fatty acids: oleic and linoleic. Standard sunflower oil is high in linoleic acid, which is the fraction that oxidises first. High-oleic varieties invert that balance, so most of the oil is monounsaturated oleic acid and far less of it is available to oxidise.
Everything buyers value about the grade follows from that one change:
- Longer fry life — fewer polyunsaturated bonds to break down under repeated heating.
- Better oxidative stability — slower rancidity, so a longer shelf life on a warm warehouse floor.
- Cleaner flavour transfer — the oil stays neutral for longer, so the last batch of the day tastes like the first.
- A higher share of monounsaturated fat — a general property of the oil type, not a health claim about any individual diet.
Expeller Pressed, Then Refined
The seed is mechanically pressed, then refined through degumming, neutralisation, bleaching and deodorisation. Each stage removes a specific group of compounds rather than everything at once, which is what leaves a neutral, high smoke point oil that behaves the same from one delivery to the next. The full sequence is on our refined sunflower, rapeseed and soybean oil page.
Because we own the crush, the crude entering the refinery has a known free fatty acid level and a known storage history, so the refining recipe is set for the actual lot rather than a generic average.
Where Buyers Use It
- Continuous and batch frying in HoReCa and central production kitchens, where the cost that matters is hours of service per litre, not price on day one.
- Snack and bakery production, where shelf life of the finished product depends on the stability of the oil in it.
- Retail and private label bottling for shoppers who buy on the fat profile.
- Industrial and non-food formulation, where oxidative stability is the specification.
Formats and Terms
High-oleic sunflower oil ships in the same formats as the rest of our range: bulk tank truck at 24 metric tonnes, flexi bag in a 20’ container at 20 metric tonnes, and packed goods at 22 metric tonnes per truck. Professional formats run 5 to 20 litres in PET, bag-in-box and HDPE jerry cans; retail formats run 850 ml to 10 litres with private label available.
Terms: FCA, DAP, DDP, CFR and CIF, shipped from our warehouses in Ukraine. The professional range is on our deep-frying oils page and the retail formats on bottling and private label.
Request High-Oleic Sunflower Oil
Tell us the volume, the packaging and the destination, and say what you fry and how many hours a day the fryers run — that is what decides whether high-oleic pays for itself against standard sunflower oil in your kitchen. Every batch ships with an analytical report from our own laboratory. Write to us through the contact page.
