Use in Animal Feed
Sunflower meal is a mid-protein energy and fibre source for compound feed. Its higher fibre content compared with soybean meal makes it useful in ruminant rations, where it adds crude protein without unbalancing the structure of the diet.

Sunflower Meal or Soybean Meal: Which Fits Your Ration
They are not interchangeable. Soybean meal carries more protein per kilogram and a stronger lysine profile; sunflower meal carries more fibre and typically costs less per unit of protein. Many compound feed mills use both, with the ratio set by what the ration needs and by the relative price on the day.
- Ruminants — sunflower meal suits dairy and beef rations well, because the fibre is an asset rather than a penalty.
- Pigs and poultry — usually a partial inclusion alongside a higher-protein source, since the fibre limits how far it can go.
Inclusion rates belong to your nutritionist, who knows the rest of the ration. We supply the raw material and the analysis it needs to be formulated correctly.
Granulated and Toasted: Why It Matters
Granulation makes the meal flow, dose and store predictably, and cuts the dust that costs you product between the truck and the mixer. Toasting deactivates the anti-nutritional factors that raw seed carries. Under-toasted meal depresses growth, over-toasted meal wastes the protein you paid for, so the analysis that comes with the lot is worth reading before the truck is unloaded.

Sunflower meal price tracks the seed market, the crush margin and freight to your unloading point. There is no single global number, and any supplier quoting one without asking your destination is quoting something you cannot actually buy. We quote volume, packaging and Incoterm together; consolidated loads and a fixed delivery window bring the price per tonne down noticeably.
